The higher road.

Martha Stewart and her daughter, Alexis Stewart

Martha Stewart was released in the early morning hours of Friday, the fourth of March, and promptly made her way to Lewisburg, West Virginia to take off from the Greenbrier Valley Airport. Now, she gets back to work. Anticipation for her two new shows (one daily daytime show that will be live and one weekly primetime show joining The Apprentice franchise) is huge. The news you may not have heard is that her sentence of home confinement may be shortened or dismissed all together. And, today, a panel of judges heard arguments in her appeal, at which one judge seemed particularly critical of the prosecution, and of the trial judge for her (lack of sound) judgement during Martha’s trial.

Martha is innocent. Her guilty conviction will probably be overturned. But, no matter what, she’s back. And more popular than ever before.

SaveMartha.com needs to change their name… GoMartha.com.

For more details on Martha’s appeal, and its broad legal importance, check out commentary from National Public Radio and the Washington Post. A pretty notable quote from the appeals hearing was from Martha’s attorney, Walter Dellinger, saying “These errors mattered.” Yes, they sure did. And finally some judges are going to consider those errors and their implications.

Hey there Justen…I have, and will always be a HUGE fan of Martha’s. I work in the investment industry, and always thought that she was getting a bad-rap! I hate men who hate women with power. I love women with power! She has worked her ass off to get where she is, and I applaud her! Why the hell has Ken Lay not spent a day in jail???? Cause he’s a man, or cause he’s well connected with the White House, which in turn makes him well-connected to the Justice Department? Unfair I say!!! And Enron’s debacle was a whole lot worse in my opinion!
