We get up at twelve.

Parliament Hill in Ottawa

Stephen Harper and Gilles Duceppe are joining together to give their Members of Parliament a nice, relaxing day on Parliament Hill. You might be able to understand why the separatist Bloc Québécois might be undermining the business of Canada’s House of Commons. But with the Conservaitve Party tagging along, you have to wonder what’s going on.

You see, around about 1125 this morning, the Conservatives and the Bloc voted, 152 to 144, to adjourn the House and basically cancel business for the second day. The seem outraged that the Liberals and NDP are refusing the acknowledge that a procedural vote is, in fact, a confidence vote (Constitutional experts be damned). So instead of working to make this Government, well, work, like Mr. Harper and M. Duceppe indicated they would just weeks ago, they’ve now seized onto the possibility of an early election.

The trick is, though, that, Canadians are smarter than Mr. Harper and M. Duceppe give them credit for. The Conservatives in bed with the Bloc to overthrow the Government… Not exactly endearing to many Canadians. Not exactly endearing at all.
