I just heard today that Joan C. Edwards passed away yesterday. It’s amazing, sometimes, that you’re so familiar with a person’s name and image, that when they’re gone, you somehow miss them. Even though you never met them.
She contributed so much to Marshall. Not just money. But direction. I doubt she would ever have given her blessing to another parking lot. Or personality-less dorm. She supported programs to treat people with cancer, to help people experience the arts, to make sure you enjoyed a night of football (even if the snow was pouring down and you couldn’t feel your fingers anymore).
Goodbye, Joan. We’ll miss you. ![]()
